I am currently a Marie Skłodowska-Curie doctoral research fellow in Electrical Power Systems Department at the Catalonia Institute for Energy Research (IREC) Barcelona, Spain and funded by the European Union Horizon 2020 framework for research. My research encompasses the control of future power systems; specifically, but not limited to, control of future transmission systems, smart grids and related systems. More information about my doctoral research can be found HERE.
The main objective of my research is the design and development of innovative, coordinated control strategies and algorithms to cater for a high penetration of renewable energy sources (RES) into the conventional power systems. My research thus spans a hybrid combination of AC-DC (Alternating Current-Direct Current) grids at transmission level with a high penetration of RES. The project is also expected to cover smart ancillary services, stability, and analysis of possible new phenomena.
